This light but sturdy side table was created completely from trees of my home village of Newton Lower Falls. The top is a beautifully figured slab of maple and the legs are rift sawn red oak. I joined them using wedged, conical mortise and tenon joints, similar to windsor chairs. The natural shape of the top has been preserved, with added carved decoration in two corners.
This is a versatile side table, which could even double as a bench for an extra guest at dinner.
Finished with varnish.
Top measures 12 x 20" at the largest point and sits 22" high.
